Soooo

As usually Kendi and in are having a great time together and finding a lot to do.
Typical day: Kendi wakes up at the crack of dawn and they both (okay fine maybe it's just me) stumble down to breakfast at the warren's. Mr. Warren comments about how tired I look and hands me an amazing cup of coffee. Mrs. Warren cooks a wonderful breakfast. They are so sweet to me and Kendi.
Then we go get ready fo the day. We pack our bags and walk to the office. From there we go get coffee at the shop next door with the staff. And watch the soccer highlights.... what a great way to spend your morning.
Then the day is usually split up into the morning and afternoon.
Morning activities: working in the office, work the pharmacy, or home visits
Afternoon activites: kids groups! At kids groups we have watched the Jesus film, taught English, played soccer or volleyball.
The days have been wonderful and amazing to get to spend it with Kendi, the warrens, and all the wonderful staff here.

Mission: work as a pharmacist

So today Kendi and I were told that we would be helping at the clinic in a local church. There is a team from covenant siminary doing counseling and medical stuff. So thinking we would be entertaining kids while their parents were seeing to doctors we packed up some toys and headed over to the church.
When we got there we realized we would be helping Laura, a nurse, in the pharmacy (a little different than the fairyland pharmacy or CVS). Unfortuatly we forgot the drug books. Laura was great she would decipher the persciptions point out the meds for Kendi and I to fill and then translate the directions into amharic. Everything ran very smoothly till she left....
Yup! Kendi and I were the only ones in the pharmacy. We think we did it all right but between all the substitutions math and illegible handwritting it was not an easy task. What's the worst that could happen?
Now we are going to have a boys group lideta.

Mission accomplished!

I've seen Kendi and we are having a blast. We are sitting in her office after doing a Christmas program for the kids (eastern Christmas is celebrated on jan 8th)
The rest of my trip went fairly smoothly. I met a family that worked with Campus Crusade for Christ in Hungry. I sat close to them on the plane to Germany.
I got hassled a little at customs because of all the shoes I was trying to bring over. Contrary to their belief I was not trying to set up a buisness with 19 pairs of walmart shoes.
The warrens were very sweet and made breakfast for us this morning.
So glad I'm finally here and getting to hang out with Kendi. Thanks for the prayers!

Mission: Leave the South

Okay so I got up at 3:15 AM!!! yes after only an hour and a half of sleep. My awesome mom got up with me to say good bye and my sweet father drove me to ATL. This provided him with plenty of time to give me all of his last minute advice and travel tips (thanks dad).

Going to the airport 3 hrs early was a little much but better safe than sorry I guess. To pass te time I ate breakfast REALLY slowly, watched people, and sat in the book store looking at the magazines and didn't buy any of them.

Got a sweet suprise at the check in counter and got up-graded to first class. I'm sitting in 3d and it's awesome.

On my way to my gate I walked Alicia to her gate. It was her first time in the USA (she's from Jamica) and the first time she'd flown was her flight from Jamica. We really clicked so we talked for a while. She's going to the U of Arkansas to run track. And ses planning on trying out for the Olympics.

Okie dokie well I guess I'll start reading my in flight magazine and enjoying my first class seat (the next flight in economy is going to be a rude awakening!)

Mission: Packing

Hey!

so i'm headed over to Ethiopia soon. It is 12:00am Thursday January 7th. I leave for the Atlanta airport in about 3 hrs and 45 min. I should probably be asleep but my bag refuses to pack itself.

this is a big trip for me because i am flying all the way to africa...by myself. let's hope nothing goes wrong (just kidding mom). I think dad has taught me all he knows about traveling and after all the trips i've been on with him i should have picked something up.

thanks for your interest in reading this blog but be warned: i am on winter break therefore my grammar will be horrible and even though computers have spell check.....sometimes i still have trouble. so if there is a sentance that doesnt make sense just skip over it and move on.

pray for safety and that God would show me more about who he is on this trip. also pray for some AMAZING times with Kendi:)
